On the hit reality series Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, the Ollinger family are old-fashioned treasure hunters who use new technologies to plumb the depths of their unique land in the remote regions of northeastern Utah. What they find usually produces more questions than answers, but they remain hot on the pursuit of the secrets below the dirt and perhaps high in the sky.

New episodes of the show air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Discovery Channel. The two main characters are Duane and Chad Ollinger, a father-son team who are looking for purported Aztec gold worth $3 billion on the property. Their belief, according to press notes, is that the gold lies within an underground network of caverns, and they have been on the hunt for years. Duane has spent a small fortune trying to find answers over the past decade.

Amidst these Indiana Jones adventures, the family also ponders the possibility of UFOs hovering up above. Utah is legendarily famous for UFO sightings and suspect paranormal activity, and Duane and Chad are open to anything that might come with their search for answers.

Recently the father and son talked with Hollywood Soapbox about the new season of episodes, how they brought in quantum technology to help their project and what they expect to find. Here’s what the Ollingers had to say …

On whether they immediately say yes to the cameras when a new season comes around …

DUANE: “There is still so much to the story that hasn’t been told, and we just don’t know how far they want to go. But we have a lot of things that need to be talked about. … We still have a lot of information that if a network doesn’t want to use it, then we will because it is a live project.”

CHAD: “There are plenty of things. With our show, there are so many different angles. Yeah, we have the treasure aspect, but we’ve got paranormal stuff. And then we have trespassers. There’s always something going and some bumps in the road that we didn’t expect, which makes for good TV. But plenty of adventure this year, and we get to do a lot of cool stuff. We’re even getting closer to … well, I can’t really say much. We found some cool stuff, no doubt.”

On whether they’re convinced there are mysteries beneath the property …

DUANE: “Everything that we deal with proves to be true. Just because you know where it’s at doesn’t mean it’s that easy to get to, and it doesn’t mean you’re not going to have problems along the way.”

CHAD: “As far as the ranch, we’re looking at multiple angles, right. We have scientists coming in, and these are real scientists and intelligent people and experts [in] archaeology. They travel the world doing this. Also there’s tons of clues all around. The Spaniards or the Aztecs, they made clues all around so people could come back and locate this spot again by finding clues. We’re finding all this stuff, so we know it’s there, 100 percent we know it’s there, but like my dad was saying, just because you know it’s there doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to get to.”

On what motivates them to keep searching …

DUANE: “In my opinion, my whole life has been about the journey. When you complete a project, it’s really kind of boring after that, so even though we’re catching all this controversial stuff and everything, it really makes for a good life.”

CHAD: “As far as the finding of it, that’s the ultimate, but along the way, you have history and everything. You have clues leading into it and the adventure. The adventure to get there is great, too. I mean it’s going to be a helluva story and already is, but we’re getting closer. But to put our hands on it, that’s the ultimate. Follow the clues. It’s Indiana Jones shit. It’s great.”

On whether they believe the paranormal is at play on Blind Frog Ranch …

CHAD: “We don’t know exactly why. We’ve had scans from these different type of technologies that show that there is some kind of energy field [below] our property. We’ve had quantum. We’ve had different satellite technology … could be a UFO, could be an energy source. And for whatever reason in the Utah area where we’re at, which we’re right north of Skinwalker, for whatever reason, there is a lot of activity going on. We haven’t yet concluded why. We’re not just talking UFOs. We’re talking paranormal, orbs, little weird stuff going on that we have to have experts come in to even explain why.”
