CON UPDATE: Monsterpalooza in Burbank adds some horrifying guests

Monsterpalooza, the annual horror convention organized by The Rubber Room, is set to invade the Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel & Convention Center, April 13-15. Several high-profile guests have signed up and are ready to meet fans.

In the makeup department, there’s some impressive names. Ve Neill, who worked on Beetlejuice and Ed Wood, will be in attendance, as well as Michael Westmore, of Star Trek and Raging Bull. Steven Johnson from Fright Night and Blade II will also be on hand.

Tom Holland, director of the original Fright Night and Child’s Play, will sign autographs on Saturday. The Fright Night theme continues with actors William Ragsdale and Stephen Geoffreys.

Representing the legendary Hammer Films will be Caroline Munro (Dracula AD 1972 and Golden Voyage of Sinbad) and Veronica Carlson (Dracula Has Risen from the Grave and Frankenstein Must be Destroyed). Tarman himself, Allan Trautman, will offer his scribble, in addition to his Return of the Living Dead co-star, Linnea Quigley.

Other guests include Terry Moore (Mighty Joe Young), Joel Polis and Thomas G. Waites of John Carpenter’s The Thing, Howard Sherman (Day of the Dead), Tom Woodruff Jr. (special effects artist for Death Becomes Her and Pumpkinhead) and the families of Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.

Many more artists and actors will be in attendance.

Individual day passes cost $20, or $50 for the entire weekend. Children 10 and under are free with a paying adult.

The Marriott hotel is located at 2500 Hollywood Way in Burbank, Calif. Rooms are available from $115 per night.
