It’s time to get your zombie on.

From Friday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 23, expect to see the walking dead, the living dead and just the plain old dead traipsing around Asbury Park, N.J. The annual Undead Festival and New Jersey Zombie Walk invade the Jersey Shore haunt, and it should be a hauntingly good time.

Tons of zombie activities are planned, including the big zombie walk (or shuffle) on Saturday at 5 p.m. Most of the outside hoopla is free, while admission to Convention Hall for the festival is $15 per day ($30 for the weekend). Tickets are also being sold for zombie makeovers ($10-$40).

Many celebrities from the horror world will be on hand to greet fans, pose for pictures and sign autographs. Included among the legends are cast members from AMC’s The Walking Dead, plus George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead. In fact, co-writer of Night of the Living Dead’s screenplay, John Russo, will be in attendance all three days.

The creators of Weird N.J. will also sign autographs.

Concerts and after-parties are planned, plus there promises to be more than 75 vendors selling rare collectibles and, I’m sure, several oddities.

For those looking to make a day out of the undead fun, try stopping in at a great restaurant in Asbury Park’s downtown. Expect to see some good deals on great eats. No brain-munching allowed.
